FAQs

General questions and answers about Aurora Recovery
Where are you located?

Aurora Recovery Centre is situated just north of Gimli, MB, approximately 1 hour from James Richardson International Airport in Winnipeg and 45 minutes from the city limits.

Do you require any clean time prior to admission?

Because Aurora has a fully operational Medical Detoxification unit led by our Medical Director, members can detox safely here at ARC, which means clean time prior to admission is not required.

Does Medical Insurance pay for treatment?

Although we require payment at the time of admission, we encourage individuals to submit their receipts for reimbursement with their insurance company. We will absolutely assist in providing any documentation your insurance company requires.

In order to be certain, we recommend you contact your insurance company.

How long is the program?

Aurora’s inpatient program varies depending on the needs of the member, but the length of treatment averages 30-60 days following detox.

Are co-occurring disorders treated?

We are a dual diagnosis capable facility so we provide a range of mental health services and medication management for co-occurring disorders. We provide optimal, on-site mental care using the most current practices available.

What is included in treatment?

Our residential treatment program provides:

  • On-site, clinically managed and monitored detoxification
  • Assessment, diagnosis and treatment for dual disorders
  • Individualized care with length of stay determined by individual progress
  • Abstinence-based treatment focusing on the fundamentals of the 12 steps
  • Supervised, Olympic-sized pool and fitness facility
  • Nutritional guidance
  • Extensive aftercare planning and continued support
How is my privacy protected?
ARC takes every measure necessary to assure your privacy is protected. Confidentiality is crucial to your success at Aurora.
Are there private rooms?
Our philosophy is based on the belief that members must learn new behaviours in order to recover. Many people with addictions find the company of other people too painful or too intrusive and have programmed themselves to isolate from friends and family.
At Aurora, a roommate system allows our members to avoid isolation and start interacting socially again. For this reason, all rooms are shared and staff conducts regular room checks.
How do I apply for admission?
Aurora Admissions Coordinators are ready to provide help and information for you and your family during this time. Please contact our admissions department at 1-888-647-8955.
