Lucille Lavoie – Counsellor
Lucille Lavoie comes to us with over 35 years of experience in the Healthcare field, as well as in the field of Addictions. Having graduated with her Nursing Diploma, Lucille worked in the Surgical Trauma and Renal Transplant units at the Health Sciences Center as well as other acute care areas. Lucille was then offered a position as Addictions Counselor for the Grace Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba.Her job entailed, working as part of the Employment Assistance Program, providing educational in services to staff as well as nursing students, in the field of Addictions. Lucille provided Counselling through referrals from physicians, emergency dept., as well as community outreach.
Lucille attended summer school at the University of Winnipeg studying current Issues in Chemical Dependency.Lucille has studied in other areas : Non violent Crisis Intervention, Substance Abuse and Mental Illness, Assessing and Managing Suicidal Members, Employment Assistance Awareness Program, Chemical Dependency Intervention Course (Addictions Foundation of Manitoba) as well as numerous others over the years.
Lucille believes the greatest asset that she brings to Aurora, is her own personal recovery for the past 30 years through working the 12 steps of Alcoholics Anonymous.
