Barry Henrikson- Counsellor
Barry Henrikson, has Certificates from the University of Manitoba in: Applied Counselling, Counselling- Specialization in Addictions Studies, Adult & Continuing Education, and CIM (Management & Administration).
Barry has worked in the field of addictions for over 28 years and has volunteered with a variety of agencies since 1981. Barry’s interest in the field of addictions began 37 years ago when he began his own journey to recovery.
Barry began his career with the Addictions Foundation of Manitoba as a Counsellor in Stony Mountain Federal Penitentiary and then in Winnipeg working in a number of different positions demonstrating his skills in working directly with members in the areas of Intake & Assessment, Individual Counselling and Facilitating Education and Treatment groups.
Barry continued to develop his skills in Leadership, Systems and Planning and Financial & Human Resources Management. Barry retired from the AFM in 2004 as the Provincial Programs and Systems Manager.
Barry’s passion has always been working directly with members. After retirement, he accepted several periods of employment with the AFM to work directly with members in both Residential Treatment Settings and Education and Prevention Fields.
Barry continues to be dedicated and passionate in his commitment to helping others to develop an addictions free lifestyle with ongoing commitment to their recovery and continued participation in the self help community.
